Over 150 graduate from Australia’s Swinburne University-Nawaloka College


It was an evening of celebrating great achievement as one of Australia’s most highly recognised seats of higher education, Swinburne University of Technology which is in partnership with the Nawaloka College of Higher Studies conferred degrees in Engineering, IT and Business on 150 graduates who are now form the elite alumni of Swinburne University. Ninety graduates were conferred with Diplomas, while sixty students also successfully completed the Foundation Year in Science & Engineering and Business. While congratulating the cohort of graduates, Chief Guest Vice Chancellor of Swinburne University Linda Kristjanson reflected that each graduate had fulfilled the requirements of a demanding course of study with focus and discipline. “Swinburne is committed to being a nationally and an internationally recognised institution in science, technology, design, business and innovation, where our education programs and our research are relevant to the world community. Keynote Speaker Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy reflected similar thoughts on his own personal educational experience adding, how a foreign education will positively enhance a student’s life. Dr. Coomaraswamy stated, “NCHS serves to reduce the impact on a family’s budget…this is thanks to the Nawaloka Group”. Moreover Dr Coomaraswamy emphasized that ‘’the quality of our education will be a key determiner of this country’s future’’ and appealed to the graduates to return to Sri Lanka and work towards building of the nation.
